A traditional ‘pishwas’ dress by Faiza Saqlain, a Lahore based designer who is incredibly popular in Pakistan.
Faiza started her brand in 2012, earning success because of her chic silhouettes infused with elegant yet traditional embellishments. Her lines are highly anticipated every season for their exquisite aesthetics that celebrate traditional Pakistani heritage.
This outfit is an off-white chikankari ‘pishwas’ featuring traditional ‘sheesha’ mirror work. A ‘pishwas’ is traditionally a frock made with many yards of material, ‘chikankari’ is a traditional embroidery style done on fabric. This particular outfit is rendered in geometric embroideries and features embellishments in silver and gold. The look is completed with a delicately adorned tulle dupatta bordered with Tamba Kiran and mirror work.
What I particularly loved about this outfit is the very traditional cut paired with one of my favourite types of embellishments, ‘sheesha’ work, which makes a beautiful impact when it catches the light. I accessorised this look with accessories from Innaya Heritage Jewellery, Preeti Mohan Jewellery and shoes from House of Vian.
