SkinCeuticals was one of the first companies to partner with physicians, their founding scientist Sheldon Pinnell’s pivotal research on topical vitamin C serums, led to a breakthrough discovery and the creation of an entirely new skin care category. With a skincare philosophy that centres on three main pillars: prevent, protect and correct, SkinCeuticals are known as the authority on anti-oxidants.
Loved by beauty editors, dermatologists, and real women, SkinCeuticals products are tested with rigorous scientifically-proven testing methods. Whilst their products are quite expensive, they really are worth the cost. Below I review a few SkinCeuticals products which I have been using the past few months.
Prevent: C E Ferulic
C E Ferulic is a powerful antioxidant and features a synergistic antioxidant combination of 15% pure vitamin C, 1% vitamin E, and 0.5% ferulic acid to enhance protection against environmental damage. It is a fast absorbing serum with visible anti-ageing benefits, such as the improvement of the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It is ideal for normal, dry, and sensitive skin
One of those iconic products, SkinCeuticals’ C E Ferulic isn't just a vitamin C serum, it is the gold standard of antioxidants and is the original serum created by SkinCeuticals founding scientist Sheldon Pinnell. My favourite product from the SkinCeuticals range, this is a must have for your skincare routine. I have been using this product for a few months and I do believe it has completely changed the texture of my skin. It is an expensive product, however it is worth the investment and will (in most cases) give you great results.
Many scientific studies have proven that C E Ferulic neutralizes free radical damage which can accelerate skin aging. Whilst the product itself does leave a residue (and doesn’t smell great!) it really will give you a smoother, brighter complexion. I have found it to be a transformative product and one that stands up to its glowing reviews. To get maximum effectiveness, avoid using alongside retinols and alpha-hydroxy acids and pair with a sunscreen.
Protect: Ultra Facial UV Defense Sunscreen
I am always hunting for the perfect sunscreen, the SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial UV Defense Sunscreen comes very close to it. An ultra lightweight lotion, with SPF 50, it protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays, known to cause premature skin ageing.
What I like most about this sunscreen is that it is absorbed into the skin like a moisturiser and it does not leave a chalky appearance on the skin. It makes a wonderful pairing with C E Ferulic and makes skin look radiant and more even-toned, before you put on any makeup.
Correct: Redness Neutralizer
The Redness Neutralizer is a really interesting product, especially formulated to help combat environmental triggers of redness and discomfort. This is a lightweight and cooling gel, it instantly helps to calm skin down. I used it initially after I had a reaction to a treatment which inflamed my skin a few days before a big photoshoot and it was immediately effective.
Whilst I personally don’t need to use it on a daily basis, I do think it’s a great product to try if you suffer from irritated skin regularly, especially as there are few products on the market that treat this condition in particular.
On review I think all of the products from SkinCeuticals were very good, however it has to be the C E Ferulic which I would recommend purchasing. Whilst expensive, it is a must have product for your skincare regime.
