As you know, I love NARS make-up and I especially love wearing natural pink/nude toned looks. Recently NARS invited me to an online session lead by a NARS professional, it was a really insightful experience to see how a professional applies products. I have previously written about some of NARS iconic products which are high quality, strongly pigmented and universally flattering.
Inspired by the NARS professional session, I wanted to take you through a few of my favourite products for a natural look which I wear often, focusing on the shades which I particularly love. The photos contain clickthrough URL’s so its easy to find the shades I am referring to throughout.
Audacious Lipstick (Barbara, Brigitte and Anita)
The NARS Audacious Lipstick formulation is a rich dense colour in a creamy texture. The product is so highly pigmented that you can apply it straight from the tube and don’t really need a lipliner. Its bold, ultra-saturated colour feels hydrating and stays put, it does not bleed or feather.
I like to apply with a swipe then go over with a brush for a more defined shape, however one swipe alone gives full coverage. The three colours which I wear the most - and yes they are very similar are; Anita (rose), Barbara (tan rose) and Brigitte (nude rose). I usually wear a natural lipstick daily and depending on my outfit choice I will go for a different nude lipstick. I have tried many shades from the Audacious Lipstick collection and these are the ones which I love the most.
Rouge à Lèvres (Niagra, Tanganyka and Tolède)
This classic NARS lipstick is a lightweight long-lasting colour which comes in sheer, satin and matte finishes. I have so many shades I wish to try in this range, my current favourites inlcude Tolède, a pink rose which is a subtly warm-toned, rosy pink with a soft, satiny finish and is perhaps one of my favourite colours by NARS.
Also Niagara, a pink based coral which is perfect when you want to wear a slightly brighter pink and Tanganyka a neutral plum brown which is a slightly different nude/brown to add to your collection.
The Multiple (Orgasm)
NARS is especially adored for its iconic highlighting shades. The Multiple instantly enlivens any complexion it is a multi-purpose stick for eyes, cheeks, lips and body. With a velvety texture and sheer, blendable colour it is perfect for creating a shimmery accent, highlight or warming the eyes, cheeks and lips. This stick has a stunning creamy texture with a shimmery finish and strong pigmentation. I use this shade most often, it is a sheer warm pink with golden shimmer which looks absolutely beautiful on a range of different skintones.
Smooth & Protect Primer (SPF 50)
I am a big fan of using this primer daily. Firstly, it has SPF 50 which is always difficult to find in a primer secondly, I have large pores and this product feels as though it fills in my large pores leaving a good base for make-up application. I don’t wear foundation on a daily basis and this primer is a great base to keep my concealer and blush in place throughout the day.
Hardwired Eyeshadow (Mendoza)
One of my first ever NARS purchases was a gold shimmery eyeshadow, the Hardwired Eyeshadows are a collection of single metallic eyeshadows that deliver high pigment and high shine. As with many of the NARS product lines there are many colours which I want to try, Mendoza is a iridescent bronze with pink shimmer which I love wearing on a daily basis with a slick of liquid eyeliner. The colour is buildable so you can achieve a subtle or more pigmented look depending on the day. I think this is the type of shade which is universally flattering and will work for many different skin tones.
Quad Eyeshadow (Moskova)
The NARS quad eyeshadows features colours that come in a variety of different finishes. Initially I thought Moskova was not the palette for me with its mixture of green/blue/grey shades, however I have really learnt to love these colours and find that they complement my brown eyes. The colours are highly pigmented and a little really goes a long way.
